Power Company Franchise: The Town Commission will hold a second reading and public hearing on June 9 before passing an ordinance extending the Progress Energy franchise to use public rights-of-way for another 10 years.
Safe Housing: Another ordinance setting standards for safe housing and providing for city action against properties that fail to meet them will be offered for first reading. The ordinance is modeled after one in effect in St. Petersburg.
Parking Permits: Resident parking permits, required for beach lots and other designated areas, will soon be available without charge. They will have an expiration date, however. The areas requiring a permit will be extended to include the street along Town Hall Park on 173rd Avenue.
On The Horizon: The commission has agreed to replace street sign poles with ones that are more decorative and will be uniform. Funds will be included in the next budget.
Reports have come to Town Hall about developer interest in several commercial parcels, including the recently vacated Beach Station.
Further improvements are in store for town hall, including replacement of tile with a non-skid variety.
