Mayor Queen and Commissioners Curtis and Bennett will officially begin their new terms at the regular commission meeting on March 12, 2009
173rd Opens As Scheduled
Contractors completed work on the broken sewer line leading to the 173rd pump station and reopened the road as promised before the Christmas holiday.
The line served Redington Shores, and while located in North Redington, there was no cost to the town.
This was a complicated repair, and the county will keep it under surveillance to make sure it is working properly.
Library Fund Raiser
North Redington Beach Commissioner Richard Bennett is again spearheading the fund raising Food for Thought for the Gulf Beaches Library. This second annual event will be held on the library grounds on March 7th.
Some of the most popular restaurants from the beach communities have already committed to the event.
Further details will appear in this space next month.
Beach Funds Cut
Officials of the beach communities learned at the last meeting of the Barrier Islands Governmental Council (Big C) that the annual allocation of state funds for beach renourishment has been cut from $30 million to $5 million as part of the state legislature’s budget trimming action taken at a special session earlier this month.
While expressing some concern for the long term, county officials said the action will not affect the renourishment activity currently planned for 2009.
