Top Town Topics
Regular visitors to this site have probably noticed that several months went by without any updates.
Truth is, there wasn’t a lot of reportable activity taking place, either in Town Hall or in the community itself.
But that doesn’t mean there weren’t plans being developed. In fact, a number of big items are coming up for the town. Details will be included in the regular June newsletter which residents will be getting in their mail boxes.
Among the topics that will be covered are:
- The hurricane season and how to prepare for it.
- The annual July 4th parade and picnic. Instructions for those who want to participate, as well as particulars on when, where and what to expect.
- Nearby sites for July 4 fireworks. Redington Shores is planning a demonstration at its park on Gulf Blvd. Madeira Beach also will have a display.
- Status of the Gulf Blvd beautification plan. The proposal has been approved by the Big C’s review committee and is on its way to county officials for funding. Still some question about burying the utility lines that cross the boulevard. Mayor Bill Queen is following up on that with Progress Energy.
- One piece of legislation that was enacted this month liberalized the standards for new businesses that want to use a banner to advertise. The town got two new enterprises, a snack shack and an Italian restaurant, in recent weeks.
