Parking Changed For Business

The Town Commission unanimously passed an ordinance revising the off street parking requirements for business, notably restaurants. The new regulations will require one space for every four seats instead of one for every three seats. This is generally the standard applied in other beach communities.

In addition, there is a grandfather clause which allows those businesses that don’t meet the new requirement to continue operations under their existing arrangement.

The changes were designed to ease pressure on town establishments while protecting neighboring residential districts.

Another change relaxed the rules on the outside display or retails goods and temporary banners and signs. Details are available at Town Hall.
