NRB Celebrates Christmas
It was a festive several weeks in the old village as traditional holiday celebrations were presented for kids of all ages.
Kicking off the string of events on December 1 was the second annual lighting of the town Christmas Tree in Harold Radcliffe Park. A good crowd was on hand for the unveiling of the 16-foot spruce in the center of the Park gazebo. There were lots of goodies, and once again a special appearance by Santa with gifts for the youngsters.

On Saturday, December 16, the annual Santa parade, accompanied by a wailing fire truck, toured the town’s streets and passed out favors for all the kids who showed up. Riding in the center of the entourage was Mayor Bill Queen, in a vintage Chevy convertible, with Santa cap and special holiday smile.
The traditional Beaches boat parade made its way through the waters of Redington Beach, North Redington, Redington Shores and Indian Shores, coming to rest at the Pub where prizes were given to the award winning floats. The winners this year were:

It was a balmy night, and 25 boats participated.
Finally, awards were given again for the best house decorations in town. The winners were:

Incumbents To Return
For the third year in a row, there will be no municipal election next March. All incumbent office holders whose terms would expire then filed for reelection; and there was no opposition.
So, returning for another two years of service will be Mayor Bill Queen and Commissioners Richard Bennett and Gary Curtis.
Other members of the Commission are Jerry Knight and Curtis Blocker.
Commission Workshop January 9
The Town Commission will hold a workshop at 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, to consider legislation for the coming year. The planning process that was put in place several years ago, and continues as a regular function of the governing body has brought to light various issues that need to be addressed.
This will likely be only the first of several workshops that will be scheduled through the year to allow for discussion and potential action.
All workshops are open to the public.
