The town’s holiday season was officially inaugurated with the third annual tree lighting and visit with Santa in Harold Radcliffe park on December 7. If a picture is indeed worth a thousand words, the following provides a pretty thorough review of the proceedings.

Boat Parade Rescheduled
The weather was perfect for the tree lighting. Not so for the boat parade. For the first time in its history, high winds forced the committee and captains to postpone the event from Sunday, December 16, to Saturday, December 22. Everything else stays the same, e.g. starting time, route and award of prizes. There are 27 boats entered. And this time, the weather is expected to cooperate. Fortunately, the weather was still nice when Santa, the mayor and others made their pilgrimage through the town spreading good cheer and favors for all. Once again, Santa rode a fire engine and had a police escort.
Winners Named in House Decorations Contest
As usual, judging the house decorations was a challenge. There were so many contenders. In the end, the prizes went to:
| Most Outstanding Decorations | David and Rebecca Moultrie 338 173rd Avenue |
| 1st Place: | Joe and Terry Baldanza 17025 Dolphin Drive |
| 2nd Place: | Phillip and Carol Waechter 147 Bath Club Circle |
| 3rd Place | John Cloutier 17316 Kennedy Drive |
Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all who participated.
Watch Here for Breaking News
Two upcoming events will be reported in this space as soon as the results are known.
Friday, December 21 is the deadline for candidates to file for election to the town commission. So far, both incumbents, Vice Mayor Jerry Knight and Building Commissioner Curtis Blocker, have filed.
Prize winners in the boat parade will be known late Saturday. The winning entries will be listed here the following week.
